SD Card vs. SDHC Saving Money and Time By Buying the Right Card the First Time
58
Many of the cameras on the market today are using the some form of SD card. With its' ultra small size and increased memory capacity it is the leading choice for camera manufacturers at this time. However when purchasing a camera or any other device that takes external memory be sure to carefully read the packaging and owners manual to determine what you need. More on this later!
SD Cards
SD Cards were the first cards to hit the market of the SD "family" to hit the market. They held up to 2GB and their relatively small size has made them very popular. Appearance wise they look just like the SDHC cards shown below, ofcourse they are without the SDHC marking on them.
SDHC Cards
Out of all my experience with cameras and phones these tend to be the most common at this time. If you look at the images below you will notice 3 sizes The full and mini sizes tend to be used in computers while the micro is used mostly in cellphones and some media players. Their capacity is known to range from 4 to 16 GB.

SDXC
Personally I haven't seen this one used that much. However the SDXC only comes in full and micro size and holds 32GB and up. As I've mentioned earlier make sure you study your products owners manual in order to make sure you are getting the right card.
Speed Classes
Speed Classes were originally created for video recording. This was made to set a minimum speed for writing video. Some cameras need a certain speed of card to smoothly record information and putting the wrong card in may cause problems.
Speed Classes come in 2,4,6, and 10 where 2 is used primarily for non HD recording, 4 and 6 is used for HD recording and 10 is used for HD recording and making stills. (Still Images from video)

One Final Note...
With the hustle and bustle of the Holiday season it's easy to get caught up in the mayhem going on in the stores. Please remember that this is a time to spend with family and friends, and while you are out in the crowds please try to remember to be courteous to your fellow man (or woman.) After all, we are all in the same boat trying to buy gifts for our loved ones. Thank you very much for reading my page, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
